Art in the Elements

Presented by Cranbrook House & Gardens Auxiliary and the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) - North Central Chapter.

Art in the Elements is back with nearly twice as many exhibits as our inaugural year! Discover large floral creations on The Mountain at Cranbrook Gardens, attend educational workshops, and meet some of the artists. Register now for Art in the Elements 2018!

Proceeds from this fundraising event will help support the preservation of Cranbrook House & Gardens and the scholarship fund of the American Institute of Floral Designers - North Central Chapter.

Artful Armatures

Armatures are the basis of all sculpture, including floral. Exploring the art of armature is exciting and limitless. Taking objects and binding them together to make a strong functional structure while creating something beautiful is very gratifying. Using natural materials, Cathy will demonstrate a few different techniques and show some finished, more complicated designs. 

Today's Trendy Boutonnieres

Fun boutonnieres for special occasions and for every day. Debbie will demonstrate new boutonniere styles and trends, from timeless to artful, to avant garde. New mechanics for attaching boutonnieres will be discussed as well. Swap those boring rose boutonnieres for something bespoke, memorable and one-of-a-kind. 

Hands-On Workshop: Floral Jewelry

Lisa Belisle AIFD

Join Lisa for some hands-on creativity. You will be able to make your own jewelry necklace and adorn it with fresh flowers. Lisa will show you ways to make composite flowers using cold floral glue and show you examples of intricate pieces she has made and some tips to expand your creative process. Each piece of jewelry will be uniquely yours.

Succulents are the Rage!

Given their easy care, many varieties, shapes and colors, succulents have increased in popularity both in gardens and as textural interest in floral bouquets. Alice will put together several styles of succulent gardens, some with plants that are winter hardy, and some that can survive indoors. Learn how to make small succulent gardens and how to use these plants in bouquets.

This exhibition is designed by members of the American Institute of Floral Designers - North Central Chapter. AIFD and its worldwide accredited members are in the forefront of the industry in presenting educational design programs and in designing flowers for such renowned events as the Tournament of Roses Parade, Academy Awards and Presidential Inaugurations.

Parking
Parking is available onsite. Additional parking is available across the street at Christ Church Cranbrook.

Accessibility
Cranbrook House & Gardens is a historic facility preserved and maintained as closely as possible to its original design. As such, there are certain natural and artificial surface conditions, such as grass, wood chip, stones, stairs, steep slopes and uneven terrain which can make walking and use of a wheelchair difficult. Assistance for persons using wheelchairs or walkers is recommended.
