About Cranbrook House & Gardens

Cranbrook House is an Arts and Crafts-style masterpiece designed by renowned Detroit architect Albert Kahn. It served as the family home of George Gough Booth and Ellen Scripps Booth, the visionary couple that founded Cranbrook Educational Community, for over 40 years.

Your private guided tour of Cranbrook House will take you back in time to a golden era of craftsmanship as you explore 12 rooms on the first floor, including the Library, Oak Room, and Mr. Booth’s Original Office. You will learn about the Booth family and their 1908 English Tudor estate while viewing handcrafted furniture, tapestries, tiles, stained glass, and other works of art.

Cranbrook Gardens is a 40-acre site surrounding Cranbrook House featuring extensive plantings, fountains, reflecting pools, statuary, lakes, and streams. Tours of Cranbrook Gardens introduce visitors to the Booth family and the remarkable grounds they built around their home. You will discover the Greek Theatre, Sunken Garden, and more.
