Cranbrook Gardens Tour

Tour Cranbrook Gardens while learning about George and Ellen Booth, the founders of Cranbrook Educational Community, and the remarkable grounds they created at Cranbrook House. Discover extensive plantings, statuary, lakes, and streams. Tours of Cranbrook Gardens are approximately 60 minutes long and include the Greek Theatre, Sunken Garden, and more!   

Cranbrook Gardens tours are guided by Cranbrook House & Gardens Auxiliary docents. Cranbrook House & Gardens Auxiliary volunteers also design, plant, and maintain the gardens.

For your safety, please note:

  • Reservations are required in advance online and each tour will be limited to 10 guests.
  • Participants older than five must wear a face mask during the entire tour.
  • Social distancing is required. Stay at least 6 feet away (about two arms’ length) from other guests and your guide.

Please do not come to the tour if you are not feeling well, if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, or if you have recently had close contact with a confirmed or probable COVID-19 case.

Restrooms
Please note that our restrooms are closed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Fountains
As a cost-saving measure, campus fountains, water features, and drinking fountains will not be running this year. Please consider bringing a water bottle with you.

Adults: $15
Seniors (60+), Students, and Active Duty Military: $10
Children (8 and under): Free
Cranbrook House & Gardens Auxiliary Members: Free

Reservations are required by 10:00am the Friday before each tour. Space is limited. 

Rain Policy
We may cancel the tour if there is a high probability of inclement weather forecasted during or before each tour. If we decide to cancel a class, participants will be notified by email (please add efranchy@cranbrook.edu and houseandgardens@cranbrook.edu to your contact lists) and an alert will be placed on our website. In most cases, participants will be contacted at least an hour before the tour begins.

Refund Policy
Guests will receive a refund if a tour is cancelled by Cranbrook due to inclement weather or other reasons. Tours are otherwise non-refundable (exceptions to this policy may be made due to COVID-19).

Parking is available onsite in our main parking lot and on Lone Pine Road. Please check in outside the Gatehouse Welcome Center (the building immediately to your left when you enter our Lone Pine Road entrance).

Accessibility
Cranbrook House & Gardens is a historic facility preserved and maintained as closely as possible to its original design. As such, there are certain natural and artificial surface conditions, such as grass, wood chips, stones, stairs, steep slopes, and uneven terrain which can make walking and use of a wheelchair difficult. Assistance for guests using wheelchairs or walkers is recommended. 

Additional Information
Tours will start promptly at their scheduled times. Please arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to allow time to park and check in at the Gatehouse. This is an outdoor walking tour. Guests are encouraged to check the weather forecast and dress comfortably for the conditions.

I understand and agree that this release includes any claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of Cranbrook Educational Community, their members, employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any Cranbrook House & Gardens tour as a participant.
