Cranbrook House Docent Training

Tuesday, March 7th, 2017 | 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Join our docent training class of 2017 to help connect visitors from all around the world with Cranbrook House. Share the story of the Booth family, their vision for Cranbrook, and their passion for the Arts & Crafts movement, as you guide guests through the first floor of the English Tudor estate.

Guided tours of the manor are provided by Cranbrook House & Gardens Auxiliary volunteer docents during the public tour season (June through October) and special events throughout the year. Tours last about 75 minutes.

Cranbrook House docent training runs from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm every Tuesday, March 7 through April 25, 2017 at Cranbrook House. Prospective docents are strongly encouraged to attend each session of training.

Docent Training Qualifications

  • No experience necessary to join.
  • An interest in learning, art, architecture and history is recommended.


Docent Requirements:

  • Successfully graduate from the docent training program.
  • Be a Cranbrook House & Gardens Auxiliary member.
  • Enthusiasm for representing Cranbrook.
  • Strong communication skills and desire to work with the public.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.


Cranbrook House is located at 380 Lone Pine Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 5:45 pm, as training will start promptly at 6:00 pm and the doors will be locked at this time.
